The X-ray Fluorescence Laboratory of INPP is an authorized Laboratory of NCSR “Demokritos” to provide analytical services to external end-users (public organizations, industry, private individuals, etc.). Having built onto an outstanding basic and applied research experience in XRF techniques/methodologies for more than 30 years, the XRF laboratory can provide reliable and unique analytical services related to the multiscale elemental and structural characterization of different kind of materials, at the laboratory environment or in the field.
In more specific the analytical services can be categorized as follows:
-
Cultural Heritage: Laboratory and in-situ non-destructive XRF measurements with high spatial and depth resolution of cultural heritage materials/artefacts and artworks
-
Environmental monitoring: Particulate Matter analysis, quantification of toxic trace elements
-
Biomedicine: Trace elements in biomedical samples
-
Industrial materials: Quality control of elemental composition of raw/finished materials, characterization of industrial coatings, control of materials RoHS compliance regarding the toxic heavy metals
-
Advanced materials: Elemental composition and structural characterization (thickness, density, roughness)
-
Development of customized portable XRF spectrometers
-
Technology and know-how transfer to XRF end-users
