TXRF

The Total reflection X-Ray Fluorescence (TXRF) set-up utilizes one of the two-line focus exits of a four-window Mo anode x-ray tube (fine focus 12 x 0.4 mm2, point focus 1.2 x 0.4 mm2, Be window thickness 400 μm). The maximum power consumption of the X-ray generator is 3 kW with maximum voltage of 60 kV and 50 mA maximum current setting (Model C3K5 by Ital Structures). The set-up includes the Atominstitut of Vienna Total reflection XRF module with a 50μm Mo filter inserted after the cut-off reflector. For the detection of the X-ray characteristic lines, an Si(Li) detector with an 80-mm2 crystal area and a resolution of 180 eV at MnKα peak is used. The set-up is mostly used for trace element analysis of liquid samples including environmental and biomedical ones such as blood serum and human urine
