The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics of NCSR “Demokritos” and the Department of Applied Research of the Department for Conservation of Ancient and Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture organized a Symposium on “The Use of Nuclear Techniques in the Protection of Cultural Heritage”. The Symposium was held under the RER / 1/006 program of the IAEA “Nuclear Techniques for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Artefacts in the Mediterranean Region”, where NCSR Demokritos has a national representative. Around one hundred and twenty (120) participants from public (Ministry of National Education, research institutes, university departments and TEI departments) and private organizations with infrastructure and experience in the application of nuclear techniques in the field of cultural heritage attended the symposium, invited speakers from Greek and foreign institutions presented a comprehensive picture of how non-destructive analytical techniques are applied in the field of cultural heritage.
