Dear Colleagues,


This is the third and final circular of the 3rd International Conference on Frontiers in Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics, and Reactions (FINUSTAR 3) to be held on the island of Rhodes, Greece from August 23 to 27, 2010. This circular contains information on the scientific program, social events as well as final instructions for the oral and poster presentations and useful information on transportation to/from the venue and the International Airport of Rhodes. The information included in this circular can also be downloaded as PDF file for the right-top side of this webpage.


VENUE: The conference will be held at the Rodos Palace Hotel, located on the north-eastern coast of Rhodes, 2 Km north of the capital city Rhodos and about 15 Km from the airport.


TRAVEL INFORMATION: The "Diagoras" International Airport is located at Kremasti, 15 km South West of the town of Rhodes and approx. 12 km from the Hotel. There are regular international charter flights to and from most European cities, as well as a large number of charter flights to and from the rest of the world. Moreover there are daily flights to Athens, Heraklion and Thessaloniki and regular connections with the neighboring islands of Kastellorizo, Karpathos and Kassos. Transportation from the Airport to the Hotel is possible by taxi service, regular public bus service and car rental. The average travel time is 15-20 min. Sea Connections: There are daily sailings from Piraeus all year round, more frequent in the summer months. The commercial harbor is situated in the city of Rhodos, about 4 km from the Hotel. All international and domestic ferries and cruise liners dock here. There are regular ferry lines connecting Rhodos to Athens (Piraeus), Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Cyprus and Turkey. Rhodos is also connected with all neighboring islands through extensive boat and hydrofoil services. Most of them dock at the commercial port and some at the Mandraki harbor. Transportation from the Commercial Port and Mandraki Harbour to the Hotel is possible by taxi service and regular public bus service. The average travel time is 10 minutes.


REGISTRATION: Registration will be held at the lobby of the Hotel Convention Center in front of the Delphi Amphitheater where the conference sessions will take place. Registration will start on Sunday, August 22 (16:00 – 19:00 hrs) and will continue on Monday, August 23 (8:00 – 9:00 hrs).


SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM AND EVENTS: The conference will start on Monday morning (August 23) and will end on Friday afternoon (August 27). A welcome reception will take place on Sunday evening, August 22 (8.30 pm). For this purpose, we will need to know the number of persons (including the accompanying ones) attending the welcome reception in advance so those planning to come are kindly requested to inform the Organizing Committee by e-mail as soon as possible and NOT LATER than August 16, 2010. On Tuesday, August 24, a special late-afternoon poster-competition session, accompanied by a reception, will be held after the last lecture session. During this poster session, members of the International Advisory Committee will decide on the best poster presentation, one on experimental work and one on theoretical work. Both the selected posters will receive an award that will be accompanied by an amount of 500 Euros. Wednesday, August 25, will be a half-day off with lectures lasting until lunchtime. Participants will be free to choose how to spend their afternoon and evening. Information on possible excursions and tours will be available at the Hotel Tourist Desk. The Conference Banquet will be held on Thursday, August 26 at 20:30 hrs.


The conference sessions will be held at the “Delphi Amphitheater” in the Hotel Convention Center, beginning on Monday morning, August 23, at 9:00 and ending by Friday evening, August 27. The scientific program of the conference will be announced on the conference website by August 10. Invited talks will be 30 min long (25’+5’ discussion), invited oral contributions will be 20 min (15’+5’) and all other oral contributions will be 15 min (12’+3’) long. A video projector will be available for presentations in MS Powerpoint or pdf format as well as an overhead projector for transparencies. Posters have to have a maximum width of 85 cm and a height ranging from 120 cm (recommended) to 140 cm. They will be hanged upon arrival (either Sunday or Monday) and may remain on display throughout the week of the conference.


PROCEEDINGS: The proceedings of the conference will be published in the AIP Conference Proceedings series. The format will be 6x9 single column with A4 page size. PACS numbers and keywords should also be included in the manuscripts. PACS have to be completed by the authors. The most recent listing for PACS can be downloaded from here. The templates necessary for the preparation of the manuscripts are given here. Invited talks and invited oral contributions should not exceed 8 pages, oral contributions should be up to 5 pages and poster contributions should be 3 pages long. Authors should send the source files (LaTeX, MS Word) including the figures (eps files), and a printout version (ps or pdf file) to finustar3@inp.demokritos.gr or hand them in on a removable medium (memory stick or cd-rom) at the registration desk at the beginning of the conference. Figures should be in black and white. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING THE MANUSCRIPTS IS THE END OF THE CONFERENCE, AUGUST 27, 2010.


In addition to the manuscript, authors are kindly requested to download a copy of the Transfer of Copyright form and the Offprint Order from this link. The forms should be signed and sent by e-mail to finustar3@inp.demokritos.gr or by fax to: +30-210-650-3537, or be handed in as hardcopy at the registration desk at the beginning of the conference.
