finustar3 > 2nd Circular

March 10, 2010

Dear Colleagues

This is the 2nd circular of the 3rd international conference on "Frontiers In NUclear STructure, Astrophysics and Reactions" (FINUSTAR 3)" providing you with additional information about the conference.

FINUSTAR 3 will be held on the island of Rhodes, Greece, from 23-27 August 2010. It is coorganized by the Tandem Accelerator Laboratory of NCSR "Demokritos", Athens, Greece, and the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. This is the 3rd in a series of international conferences previously held in 2005, on the isle of Kos, Greece (http://www.inp.demokritos.gr/~finustar) and in 2007 in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece (http://www.inp.demokritos.gr/~finustar2). Just like the previous ones, this conference aims at covering a wide spectrum of research activities in nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics and nuclear reactions that due to common instrumentation and research facilities have been overlapping strongly over the last years. FINUSTAR 3 will cover the following topics, both experimental and theoretical:

The conference will start on Monday morning (August 23) and will end on Friday afternoon (August 27). A welcome reception will take place on Sunday evening, August 22. The conference banquet will be held on Thursday evening, August 26. Conference proceedings will be published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP Conference Proceedings).

The conference will be held at the Rodos Palace Hotel, a 5-star hotel and convention center, that is located on the north-eastern coast of Rhodos, 2 km north of the capital city Rhodos and about 15 km from the airport. Rodos Palace Hotel offers following accommodation rates:

     1. Tower room double (single use): Euro 100 per night
     2. Tower room double (double occupancy): Euro 130 per night
     3. Triple room: Euro 150 per night
     4. Garden suite (1-4 persons): Euro 170 per night

These rates include American buffet breakfast and all taxes. Participants can have lunch (buffet) at the hotel at a price of 23 Euros. The accommodation form can be downloaded from the conference website and should be sent to the Rodos Palace Hotel either by e-mail to rika@rodos-palace.gr or by fax to: +30-22410-25350. Participants are advised to arrange for their accommodation at Rodos Palace Hotel the soonest possible and in any case no later than July 23, 2010. In addition, the organizers have arranged for 50 Sea View rooms. However, these are offered on a first book first serve basis (upon availability). It is also advised to proceed with your travel arrangements the soonest possible, since the island of Rhodos is one of the most popular tourism destinations during all seasons and especially in August.

The deadline for abstract submission is Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Submissions should be made through the conference website using the abstract templates given there (LaTeX or MS Word). Abstracts prepared with LaTeX that include eps-figures should be uploaded in PDF format only (NO eps files will be accepted). A notification of acceptance of oral/poster presentation will be sent by end of June. From the submitted abstracts, the International Advisory Committee will select 10 to 15 papers for an invited contribution. A special late afternoon poster competition session will be organized. During this session, members of the International Advisory Committee will decide on the best poster presentation, one in experimental work and one on theoretical work. Both the selected posters will receive an award that will be accompanied by an amount of 500 Euros.
