Tatiana Panagopoulou

Aikaterini Panagopoulou studied Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Arts at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (1991). She holds a MSc degree from the University of the Peloponnese, in Cultural Heritage, Materials and Technologies; (Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management, 2017). Her thesis bears the title: “The Minoan Peak Sanctuary at Ayios Georgios sto Vouno, Kythera: Technological Investigations of Bronze Finds”. From 2016, she is a PhD candidate of the same University and her dissertation in progress is entitled: “Metallurgy, Metal work and Copper Trade in the Aegean in the Bronze Age: The Bronze Finds from the Minoan Peak Sanctuary at Ayios Yeoryios sto Vouno, Kythera”.

As a permanent employee of the Ministry of Culture and Sports since 1991, Mrs Panagopoulou worked in the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, specialized in conservation of metallic objects; therefore, she organized the metal Conservation laboratory. Apart from metal, she is also an experienced conservator as far as pottery, stone, mosaics, glass and organic materials (bone and wood) is concerned.

From 2014, Mrs Panagopoulou serves the Ephorate of Antiquities of Piraeus and the Islands, as a Head of the Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Arts Department.  She has participated in many conferences and workshops presenting topics related to the conservation and analysis of metal finds.
