PhD Student
Born in 1994, S. Nanos, studied physics at the University of Ioannina (UOI), Greece and graduated in 2017. Ηis undergraduate thesis was titled: “Evaluation of the lifetimes of the metastable state 1s2s2p 4PJ”. In summer 2018 he was selected to participate to HGS-HIRe Summer Student Program at Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. There, he worked for two months at the ESR internal target station. In 2019, he received his MSc degree from UOI. For his diploma thesis entitled “Electron capture to the continuum in fast collisions of protons with gas targets”, he carried measurements at the Tandem Accelerator Laboratory of INPP, NCSR “Demokritos”, where he is currently working as a researcher in atomic physics with accelerators. His plans for the future is to continue working in atomic physics research leading to a PhD. Until now, he has 2 publications in refereed international journals and 1 publication at conference proceedings.
