Eleni Vagena

Research Associate

My name is Eleni Vagena and I graduated from the School of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/Greece with a Master in Electronic Physics. Right after I enrolled in a PhD program on Nuclear Physics where I mastered in evaluating the photoneutron field produced around medical linear accelerators. My PhD research involved the development of an experimental technique based on neutron activation analysis to unfold the neutron energy spectrum in medical linear accelerators. In the last year of my PhD, I worked at the ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS) at CERN. After the completion of my PhD, I have been granted a two-years’ postdoctoral fellowship from the Greek State Fellowship Foundation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/Greece, to work on the “Cross-sections determination of the (γ,n) reactions for the p-nuclei of the rare earth elements”. Moreover, I have worked as a visiting scientist for a muon tomography project at the Laboratoire d’Annecy-le-vieux de Physique des Particules (LAPP), Annecy, France. Additionally, I have worked at Culham Center for Fusion Energy, Abingdon/UK, granted with a visiting fellowship (STSMs) through the COST Action “ChETEC–Chemical Elements as Tracers of the Evolution of the Cosmos”.
