Professor Emmanuel Floratos has been elected as a member of the Academy of Athens in the Chair of “Mathematical Physics”. Prof. Floratos has been the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in the period 1995 – 2003 and Director of NCSR “Demokritos” and President of the Board of Directors in the period 2003 -2005. Since then he remains a close collaborator of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics, teaching, supervising students and acting as a mentor to many of us.
