Frontiers in Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions

Aghios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece, September 10-14, 2007

The conference will be hosted at the IBEROSTAR Mirabello Beach 4* (pic1, pic2, pic3) and Village 5* hotel (pic) located at the Mirabello bay approximately 2 Km north of the town of Aghios Nikolaos, Crete (map). Lectures will be given at the conference center (pic)  that is part of the Village. Aghios Nikolaos is the capital of the Prefecture of Lassithi in east Crete. It is approximately 70 km east of Heraklion, the capital of Crete, and the Heraklion international airport. Information on the climate of Crete, flight and ferry connections are given here.

Transportation to/from the venue and International Airport of Heraklion "N. Kazantzakis", is possible day and night by

• Taxi service (taxi station in front of terminal entrance): The cost of a taxi trip from the airport to the venue is approximately 70 Euros. To make sure you are not overcharged for the ride PLEASE inform the Hotel Reservations Office about your arrival flight details and ask them to arrange for a taxi for you.
• Public Transport Bus connection (K.T.E.L.). The cost is less than 10 Euros for a one-way ride:

Heraklion Central Bus Terminal → Aghios Nikolaos Bus Terminal (stops at Heraklion Airport)
Aghios Nikolaos Bus Terminal → Elunda (stops at Iberostar Mirabello Beach & Village Resort)

Buses run from Heraklion Central Bus Terminal to Aghios Nikolaos Bus Terminal daily with a stop at the Heraklion International Airport en route. Travelers will have to wait for the bus at the bus stop outside the Airport Entrance Gate. It is estimated that the bus starting from Heraklion Central Bus Terminal takes about 10 min to get to Heraklion Airport. The bus ride to Aghios Nikolaos takes about 1 1/2 hours. The bus does not stop nearby the Hotel on the way to the city of Aghios Nikolaos, so to get to Iberostar Mirabello Beach and Village Resort from Aghios Nikolaos, there is another bus connection running from Aghios Nikolaos to Elunda that stops in front of the Hotel. The bus timetables can be found here. The two bus rides require separate tickets that can be bought on board the bus. The total cost is about 7,5 Euros.
