The Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) participates in the graduate education for the acquisition of a Master and Ph.D. degrees in the fields of Nuclear and Particle Physics, in collaboration with Universities in Greece and abroad. The graduate students are being supervised by Research Scientists of INP.

The Institute of Nuclear Physics offers graduate courses for a Master Degree in collaboration with the Institute of Material Sciences and the ΣΕΜΦΕ department of the Athens Polytechnic University. The courses are a prerequisite to continue for a Ph.D. degree in the above scientific fields.

The research scientists of the Institute of Nuclear Physics teach the following courses during this period:

  Theoretical Mechanics

Instrumentation (in collaboration with the Polytechnic    University)

  Electromagnetism II

  • Elementary Particle Physics
  • Statistical Techniques in Physics
  • Quantum Field Theory II
  • Astroparticle Physics
  • Physics with Ion Beams
  • Nuclear Astrophysics
  • Special Subjects in Nuclear and Particle Physics

Summer School

The long educational tradition of NCSR “D” is also reflected in the organization of Summer Schools. It is about Summer Courses aiming at Orienting and Informing undergraduates on research subjects covered by the eight Institutes of the Center.

The entire Course’s duration is about 2 weeks and consists of 4 tracks of lectures: one general attended by all participants and three more specialized out of which the participants select one. Each track consists of 60 hour-long lectures offered by members of the Center or and other distinguished Greek and international scientists.

Until now, 1350 students have participated in17 Summer Schools  A large number of them have continued their studies in the Centre, in order to obtain a Masters’ or a PhD.
